The good: I have apparently, in consultation with E, decided to get married. We decided this by purchasing wedding rings and making panicked faces at each other (my panic face involves tilting my head up a lot, as E is "a large fella, with the curls" as an Australian tourist put it yesterday.) Date: no idea. Wedding or separate courthouse date and semi-related party a little later: probably closer to the latter. I absolutely forbid any parties with "Shower" in the title. I am not that kind of girl and I'm already skittish about this so don't push me I COULD GO POSTAL AT ANY MOMENT.*
The bad: my cat has been missing for nearly two months. He's been missing longer before, and in this case is in his own neighborhood, but I miss him. I am worried he might not ever come back.
The ninja-like reflexes: now with fannish content! I update my Sherlock (several flavors) Recs List when I find awesome stuff I enjoy reading. I have not yet gotten into Elementary, however.
*side note: whilst in Hawai'i this last week (yes, we made a romantical decision whilst work-vacationing in Hawai'i, WHAT?) we noted a hilarious/freaky tourism campaign to convince Japanese tourists to go to shooting ranges for the novelty. Women and children are welcome! Look at this welcoming photo of a sweet, made-up, matronly-dressed young woman holding a giant glock with a laser sight! She's so sweet and adorable looking with that gun larger than her head! I don't know what to make of that.

Date: 2013-08-06 06:50 pm (UTC)And, should one hypothetically be allergic to knitting flat, what patterns exist that I have half a chance of finishing in a year? In the round? interesting long pattern? Avoid laceweight? I like the look of traditional laceweight... but argh, the prospect of that much flat knitting.
Hang on! Can I make myself wedding socks?

Date: 2013-08-08 03:15 am (UTC)I do like the idea of a wedding shawl, though, as I intend to spend most of the celebration in a tank-top and jeans, so a pretty lacy thing might be perfect. I just don't *like* knitting flat! I have barely ever finished scarves. Like 3 I've made ever. Let alone lace with possibly lace-weight yarn. I just can't imagine...
Relatedly, Pia (E's Italian grandmother) has offered to crochet us doilies, which are just sentimental and glorious enough for me to love. They'd be a unique pattern that she made up, and I have to help, isn't that wonderful?
