It's so beautiful! Gah! I don't even know where to begin.
Oh, Vala. This is exactly the way I picture her--flighty, and deeply sad, and a little afraid to look into herself. There is absolutely nothing more perfect than why she sits down to "meditate" in the first place, and then her mental process as she shifts her focus from Daniel to Cam to Daniel to Teal'c--it's so exactly what was in my head, and yet it goes just that extra bit further.
Parts I particularly liked, with and without commentary:
Vala categorizes the reflections she sees of herself in shiny surfaces as “unattractive,” “not bad,” and “glimpses where the hair isn’t visible.” --Ouch. And totally perfect.
Vala asks about the signature and Sam denies the stars exist. --What a wonderful phrase! I love how it gives me both Sam and Vala here, just as if I could hear and see them.
Vala is a little sad that they reached the end of Teal’c’s imagination so quickly. Or maybe he was just humoring her and paying attention only as long as it was necessary. --Oh, Vala. You have much to learn.
...and many more.
I love love love the quiet sense of being not-quite nowhere, and the meandering paths each person takes to the ship, and the edge you give to Cam's wandering/pacing.
