synecdochic and frostfire_17, John/Rodney, fellatio, v. guh. Nothing Hurts Like Your Mouth. NC-17. GUH.

Some nice UST by miera_c: Wet. Carson, SGA, G rated.

I just read a long, plotty, intimate, almost-slash SGA fic called Salt of the Earth from dashamte = Dasha. It's lovely, the sort of wonderful, deep, unique, irreplacable intimacy between people that lets them talk about hard things and be there on bad days and take the blame and ask too much of each other and learn and accept failings and change each other's opinions and be patient and love. This is a great love story. It is also an unflinchingly painful tale of recovery and acceptance. PG-13 for mature themes, John & Rodney close friendship with Ronon, Teyla, Elizabeth, Carson and Radek friendships in there as well.

Someone mentioned MVP from cesperanza as one of their favorite John characterizations in a sort of meme thing that was going around and all I could think was 'there's Speranza fic I haven't read???' ??? It was a surreal moment. Anyway, MVP is marvelous. John/Rodney, stemming from Rodney's obsession with hacking the system to read his own personel file, then reading other people's too, and isn't that just a very Rodney set up? The characterization of both of them is of strong, different, flawed, interesting people. NC-17, S2, if I remember correctly.

Speranza's also got a virgin challenge fic that I found marvelously tactile and I loved the complete lack of a big deal virginity was for the team, and who was really venturing into new experiences and who wasn't. Pure Bodies and Clean Hearts. Pretty sure it's NC-17 at the end, there.

thegrrrl2002 wrote a sweet crush of a het story with Zelenka/Weir, and I very much liked the stutter of Radek and definitive moves of Elizabeth: Polyphony, PG, for the back to basics challenge.

ozsaur, who seems to be all over my recs pages lately, wrote a nice bit of mild D/s for the Kink/Cliche challenge, and I loved the tone of both of them not really understanding what they want or why yet, but still remaining tender enough with each other that you feel like they have the potential to get it one day. To Yield, John/Rodney, NC-17.

Victoria Custer continues Hunting Parties (I actually don' t think you need to have read that to appreciate the comfort of the H/C) with a nice tag: Consequences, PG-13, a little John/Rodney, SGA.

auburnothenna and eretria wrote one of my favorite threesomes EVER in John/Rodney/Sam, and it was full of characteristic actions and reactions and I loved it. Hawtness. Yoshino, NC-17.

And now I must talk about Vehemently's (that's vee_fic, also) marvelously titled Eurydice Turns Left. Seriously, you should read it just for the title, but if not that, then read for amazing team adventure, extraordinary characters and some brilliant OCs, and by that you should understand that they are not only interesting, but some of them are really smart experts in their fields and she writes them all, military, scientist, alien, really well. Sheppard is marvelous, the planet fascinating, the actions and reactions of each character marvelous. SGA, gen, PG-13, S2. Really Good. Go read it.

I have a general pointer to the kink & cliche multifandom ficathon going on (there is very little SG-1 so far. Woe!) in which I read a fantastic 'heat, with short tempers' fic from thegrrrl2002: Meltdown, John/Rodney, NC-17, and 'anonymous, sex in the dark' from z_rayne: No Anarchy in the Universe, SGA NC-17.

Also getting it's very own pointer line: The Tipping Point, SGA, NC-17, John/Rodney, possessiveness and power play, extremely well done, with balance and strength and complex psychology and character. Amazing. By alizarin_nyc for the kink challenge.

mamadebfic wrote an impressive little h/c fic for John and Rodney in a pre-slash sort of way that's haunting: Some Far-off Touch, PG-13.

mmmchelle wrote some gentle, welcoming, healing, funny femslash, and I loved it and feel like it was just for me. No seriously, any of the rest of you read your given name in a fic and felt like, omg I'm sleeping with Teyla? Because wow, go me! I am teh awesome! Kate/Teyla, NC-17, SGA, Not Almost. It really did feel like a sexy hug of a fic.

Read kormantic = Pares's 400%, the entertaining sequel to two other stories about Rodney and Cadman that I, actually, haven't read, since I have yet to actually *see* duet, but I loved her Cadman. Seriously, Laura was great, and considering this was a story that starts het and turns slash with a number of partners changing faster than your average dance hall's the fact that everyone was sympathetic and downright likable and quirky was refreshing. Poor John, though, squicked by the het and still in denial himself of teh wonder that is Rodney. SGA, NC-17, I'm pretty sure. Nice and long fic.

cesperanza wrote a bloody marvelous OT4 fic called Three Lovers, from Teyla's perspective, in which no one is abandoned, no one is cutoff from home, there are subtleties and nuances within every single relationship within the group and the development of the relationships feels wonderful and natural. Plus, I really adore Teyla. SGA, NC-17.

Rebecca = blueraccoon's Truth Table follows Data Set with some very agreeable D/s pron, and I really love that she's settling in the SGA fandom so nicely. *brings housewarming present.* Rodney/John, NC-17.

minnow1212 wrote the marvelous Five Ways Ronon Dex Kisses a Team Member, het and slash and mostly not-alien induced and sweet and wonderful and rated R.

Rebecca = blueraccoon (which is such an entertaining handle, too) has jumped into the Atlantis ocean and started posting John/Rodney fics. She's known (to me, anyway) for doing great sexy things with power plays and D/s stuff in the NCIS universe and she does here as well, only she'll reinterpret who's D and who's s for any particular fic, which, you know, not so much with NCIS where Gibbs is clearly the alpha. It's amazing. Two fics, both NC-17, D/s roles (pretty mild) respectively: Breathe, John/Rodney, first time. Data Set, Rodney/John, established.

A John/Rodney piece in which there was a really nice thread of Rodney not being able to let go of Cadman and the 'ship with John just being a sort of relevant supporting storyline. It was quite awesome, to my sleepy mind. Letting Go by gaiaanarchy.

janedavitt wrote a smidge of a moment between Sheppard and Jack in the helicopter at the beginning of Rising, possible passing of a torch we never saw with Mitchell, and a nice beginning to all sorts of possiblities for two men of similar priorities in the service. Seven Minutes Out, John & Jack, PG-13-ish, gen.

brain shut down mid-read but mmmchelle posted smut for a Sunday and my brain shorted out at least twice from the sexiness levels. What It Gives. NC-17, SGA, John/Rodney.

minnow1212 wrote an amazing, creative, unusual piece about urban legends in the Pegasus galaxy. I can't sell it, but everyone should read it. Look for the line 'Don't you already know how it ends?" Twelve Things They Will (Someday) Say in the Pegasus Galaxy.

Funny and logical all at the same time: Offer Extends to the Pegasus Galaxy by kabukivice, SGA, John/Rodney and PG-13-ish.

ltlj (AKA Martha Wilson) finished posting Recovery (link to first post), the sequel to the SG-1/SGA crossover Retrograde. Both are brilliant, the characters from both shows are amazing and the stories are incredible. Not to be missed. Also just posted today: comfort fic addendum. Movie night (gen, PG-13, mostly SGA). Really excellent community interaction.

siriaeve wrote Sfumato (without lines or borders, in the manner of smoke or beyond the focus plane) for trinityofone's birthday. Beautiful John & Rodney travelling and living after others didn't. Rodney's inability to name his realizations as they come was amazing. Fade to black slash, rate it a PG-13? SGA.

Also read the very spiffy Like a Long, Slow Nervous Breakdown by cesperanza, which is an amazing compatible f*ckbuddies under stress turning into partners who can't be without each other, and as a result is an amazingly unexpected first time fic. John/Rodney, NC-17

Flying Low at Night by cofax7 is the final form of the Farscape/SGA crossover WIP she had going there, which is John Sheppard's POV as a transplant from Atlantis into the Farscape 'verse something like 6 years after the end of the series. Aeryn is tough and alien and beautiful and decisive and wonderful and electric. John is guarded and on the brink of finding something. Adult, Sheppard/Sun.

trinityofone's As Well As Valor is an emotionally and psychologically complex look at Rodney and the whys and hows and wherefores, and how John fits in that. NC-17, slash, SGA.

rydra_wong pointed me to a stunningly gorgeous and breaky Teyla fic: Shatter, by ladyjax, in which Teyla is strong and breaking. Teyla, John and Rodney. R, gen.

pearl_o's Queen of Quiet. Particularly liked the portrayal of her instincts and how she adapts to Atlantis and learns from the Earthers. Also like that she very quickly learns the notion of sexuality apart from procreation. (SGA, Teyla/Rodney, R)

tielan wrote an extraordinary Teyla/Radek fic that shows, really nicely, how compatible their two personalities can be, and also lets one of my favorite supporting characters shine. Different, SGA, het, PG-13.

thegrrrl2002's longer lovely Rodney/John falling in love: Unanticipated Outcomes (complete), (SGA, J/R, NC-17)

kellifer_fic wrote a followup to Little Bear called Sun Bear, which is cute and cracked, and which features the words 'tumbly run' which pleased me.

More SGA crack (and I mean that in the best possible way): _mousi's The Greatest Rescue Mission in the Pegasus Galaxy. There are no words.

from stargateanon, which is a comm to post anonymously for a few weeks and then reveal the author later (sort of a 'spot the writing style' game) a Lorne centric piece that nevertheless features John and Rodney, Caldwell and Elizabeth, in ever-shifting roles: A Major's Guide to Dining in the Pegasus Galaxy. Gen (unless you count Lorne's apparent obsession with ketchup), G rated.

The gorgeous remix of tripoli8's If the Sycamore, Swaying entitled A Sudden Clearing was written by nanda (nandamai). Gen, serious, rate it PG-13 for subject and character death. It's stunning.

torakowalski, Scenes From An Accidental Courtship. I'd read that just for the rhythm of the title alone. John/Rodney; first time; NC-17. Also read Wounded, a tag for The Eye. Also NC-17.

eretria and auburnothenna have collaborated on the last of a triptych of John/Rodney fics that they wrote the first two of (for? of?) individualy and respectively: Vapor, Dragon Smoke and Vapor Lock (for murron). I'd give these an R rating for subject, but not terribly explicit content. The way they tell the story is cool, though, everything through a haze, whether self-imposed (inflicted?) or accidental, which leads to realization being stumbled onto with the kind of honesty that only confusion can bring. Interesting, and I think it really worked, particularly impressive since this wasn't originally supposed to be a series, and every part really has a different story, different point.

from synecdochic, a long gold sliding into dawn. John/Rodney, first time in it's own way, maybe early courtship, where you're still really surprised every time the other person shows up, NC-17.

And an author from SG-1 dun switched sides: James Walkswithwind (zortified) wrote the inevitable All's Fair in War which is lighthearted, fun, and sexy (all about Beckett man, this is one fic where the traditional pairings won't work at all). McKay/Beckett, R-ish, pretty tame, though, it's more about the foreplay. There are also a number of very sexy McKay/Beckett/Sheppard threesomes, and I stayed up far too late reading some last night. Heh. Good dreams, though.

Some John/Rodney: Things Left Unsaid by elandrialore. I hadn't read this author before, but I like the way John and Rodney communicate in this; plus, it's really nice smut. Also Rodney's panicking really works for me.

Also, a beautiful tragic little moment in the back of a puddlejumper: Reaction by mamadebfic. There's really impressive complexity for such a short piece.

brighidestone posted Parenting in the Pegasus Galaxy, a continuation of astolat's A Beautiful Lifetime Event story and universe, and it's a marvelous family portrait, with two guys pawning off the ickier parenting responsibilities when they can and dealing when the kids come to them with problems no one expected. Marvelous. And for the record, I was like that as a 4-5 year old. It was fun fielding questions from me about what a tampon was after yet another commercial where girls danced and cartwheeled across the screen, I'm sure. FUN.

mmmchelle and thegrrl2002 wrote some John/Rodney/ZPM p0rn too, called A Many-Splendored Thing.

And, hrm, where to put the apocafic in this list? I think here, with the inexplicable and the gorgeous. There Are No Gods In Pegasus by niannah is beautiful, but it does not pull it's punches; it is the more darkly stunning for it. SGA gen.

Are you all reading jssangel's posts? You should be, she's posting these amazing fics about Pegasus natives and their attitudes about sex in cultures that have limited populations and a need for as many children from as diverse a genetic pool as possible coming to live and deal with the Earth-grown 'Lantians with their oddly Puritanical, strangely committment-oriented ways learned in a world with an overpopulation problem. It's amazing and psychologically complex and I'm fascinated. Here's a link to one called A Dream of Things That Never Are. Ronon, R and another The Grace of Efficiency, Elizabeth.

sdraevn = Danvers wrote a wonderfully surreal wedding fic that feels like a wedding to me, with interchangable faces and time in a vacuum and you wonder if it was fun or why you spent so much time there when you would've left any normal party hours earlier. Holding On. She also was gifted pretty art for Under The Skin, which I hadn't read before, but I love for the unique communication and sweetness.

mmmchelle's fic without a title is Reason 2363 to Love Teyla (my title) it's John/Rodney and NC-17.

I started reading another WIP, and now I'm committed. *head/desk* Oh well, it's rageprufrock and SGA as 'The Mummy' and I'd call it crack except she keeps writing Egypt so evocatively. Three parts up so far, no schedule. Fair warning. Sky Full Of. John, Rodney (and John/Rodney soon, I hope) and Jeanie (she's marvelous).

jssangel continues to write incredible Ronon POV about sex and progeny and restrictions and dreams: A Dream of Things That Never Are. Ronon, adult.

Rodney being stunningly in post-traumatic character; Clothed in Sealace by ladycat777 in a tag for Grace Under Pressure. John/Rodney. I loved the quiet reveal of where he stands with John, and loved how single minded he is in his trauma, to the point where he is absolutely oblivious to his surroundings and even his own person.

This one is not to be missed: SGA, Rodney, Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose by synecdochic. Beautiful living after losing everything fic, and finding meaning where you least expected to, and forgiveness when you'd stopped looking for it. "I knew you'd never be an old man." Good gracious. Comment here in her journal, I've linked you to the website. And here is the DVD commentary.

Also, from the archives, have read the SGA fic Layover by kylielee1000. Very nice make-out session. Mmmmmm..... Rodney's voice is fantastic too, and I have a soft spot for the little old lady with the cane at the airport.

It wasn't written for my bad day in particular, but who cares? trinityofone wrote Missionary Position, which is, frankly, a BRILLIANT cheer-up fic.

Also jssangel, apparently new to the LJ scene, expands on helenish's lube eyes and offers sociological insights (titled Prelude to a Safety-Mandated Circle Jerk) into Ronon's adaptation to Atlantis's sexual practices and why he has a huge crush on Zelenka. *g* I've friended for less. (and HERE she's expanding the comment-fic based on these ideas. Great classic scifi tone.)

There is new stuff at pegasus_b from kuwdora, who follows troyswann's beautiful Tomorrow, or the Day After and grim Glass with Let's Talk Turkey, containing sophisticated use of time blending, actually taking me to one place before revealing a different scenario that I was totally on board with. Pretty impressive for such a short little fic. John and Jack, pegBa'al, so you know they're broken, you just don't know if it's beyond repair.

There is very nice p0rn at pic_fic, including Tantric from feather_autant and Relaxation from mmmchelle.

katie_m wrote a gorgeous Teyla backstory piece, because a woman that emotionally together had to have learned it young, hadn't she? Wisdom.

astolat has written two very different pieces; one is a wonderful humorous bit for merryish in merrymakings: Wear Sunscreen. John and Rodney and Ronon. SGA.

The other is some of the hottest, omg my brain has exploded, never mind that it's gendermessed crack!fic, threesome action EVER. John/Rodney/Ronon and a third installment of It Stops Being Funny at Skirts (svmadelyn)/Skirting the Issue (thisisbone). NC-17, really. And hawt, did I mention? But Some Things Never Stop Being Funny.

Consider, please: By Any Other Name by (sori1773) which is a lovely progression of strangers to friends, to falling out and making up and farther. John/Rodney, and gentle and lovely. The pacing is really nicely done.

also, if you're into arguing today, _inbetween_ wrote a cranky!John & Rodney snippet and it gives me perverse joy. Fuhgeddaboudid.

I'm still in awe of how wonderfully tantric the build up of tension is in this fic. Rodney just stimulates John in all the right ways at the same time he's making him feel safe from the hoards of people wanting to celebrate his birthday. Fantastic stuff! Not just any smut, let me tell you; it's staying with me. Invisible by Day, by mmmchelle.

Your Inevitable Unhappy Ending by helenish is SGA John/Rodney, taking off and running through a couple of years in it's own timeline. And it hits a lot of my kinks: awkward sex, misunderstandings in some cases due to deliberately saying what they don't mean, great psychological complexity about why this relationship is different, Rodney having to be the non-screwed up one of the two, nice depth of character in the rest of the ensemble, including Elizabeth in particular, and Miko. It's also well written and the characters are really interesting takes on the canon guys. I rec highly.

From favoritefangirl, a comm to appreciate svmadelyn, I particularly liked astolat's Composition, the third part of the rather voyeuristicly grand tagteamed trilogy of guh: Resolution by resonant8 and Clarity by cesperanza being the first two parts. Also Lists and Candy Bars by violetsmiles and Focus/Wealth by trinityofone.

Separate from that is a lovely Teyla POV slashfic by ladycat777 called Delicately Balancing.

A really nice twist on John/Rodney. She flipped a few of my assumptions by the end. SGA, teen rated, John/Rodney on vacation. Truth In Advertising by devildoll. I've never read this author before and I was impressed.

Still, by mmmchelle and thegrrrl2002. John/Rodney porny goodness with the exploration of a new kink that is psychologically believable and wonderful. Yum.

Survival by niannah is Ronon POV (is voice is marvelous, how he says little, sees much, and might return to any given conversation whenever he has something else to say about it) with John/Rodney in the background, which is marvelous, especially as Ronon starts to understand that it's more than just safety and basic needs now, and he starts thinking about what he wants, has and things like luxuries and things precious. Really beautifully written. Just the opening observations of weather are incredible.

katie_m wrote this snippet on my prompt of Rodney and girlscout cookies: Professional Ethics. This actually came up because I'm convinced that the Girl Scouts are lacing those cookies with something because Tagalongs! Thin Mints! Samoas! I have a love-hate relationship with Girl Scout cookies, and I thought Rodney might feel the same way. Hence, prompt. Katie did a lovely job with such a cracked prompt. Gen.

Another fantastic gen piece: Rodney and Sam, friendshippy, crossover SG-1/SGA and a birthday present for saffronhouse. Cool. I love when they can talk science and it's a part of the characters, and when their personalities shine through as they make connections and get distracted from snarking at eat other. Free 'Verse, by dashamte.

Jam Every Other Day and Part 2 by arionchan for the mcshep_fairytal challenge. Cool virtual reality meets deadly Wraith virus and reminds me of this one early Next Generation episode where the doctor (I always love the doctors) got hurt and Data jumped 10 meters no problem. But seriously, some neat ideas in this fic, and Rodney's voice is really good and the plot is fascinating.

And the lovely lovely, ever lovely Danvers (sdraevn) has posted a sequel to Tail Spin which is not the dire 'maybe they pined after each other FOR EVER bwahaha' ending that she threatened me into a quivering puddle with in comment discussions. Thank GOODNESS. Anyway, Collision is John/Rodney, and a great tension. Intimacy, but flawed. And Rodney's version of compromise.

tigerlady (docmichelle) wrote a lovely bit of p0rn here: Hands-On Research.

The True Story of What Was is a very nice transition from guys being guys to competitive to winning to maybealittleadmissionofaffectionSHUTUP. Cute. From visionshadows, John/Rodney.

amific has written Scenes from a Lesser War, an SGA, NC-17, McKay/Sheppard fic with subtlety and nuance and the twist at the end makes it amazing and gives the whole thing a bit of a bittersweet tang. Recommended. Longer.

stillane took the 'three little words' prompt and did something alive and new. John and Rodney, Liguistics, SGA.

With a tag for recent ep, janedavitt wrote an impressive twist on Grace Under Pressure. I didn't see that coming, honestly. Absolution. John/Rodney.

Great John/Rodney fic from amific: Leavenworth. Includes the bonus nuance of an alien justice system going awry, but them being really pretty respectable about it and trying their durndest to be noble and fix stuff and make amends and *hand flapping* stuff. Plus, John and Rodney are hawt. And I like the idea of them getting addicted to one another.

More John/Rodney + alternate dementions where things went according to plan: They're Advertizing in the Skies for People Like Us by throughadoor. The character differences will make your heart ache.

Also John/Rodney: Vapor by eretria with a nifty little twisty bit. And a steam hut.

Crack!fic: Rodney as dinosaur. And really, there is little more that can be said. vileseagulls' Rodneyosaurus. AND, OR, THEREFORE more Rodney as a dinosaur: Twenty-Four Hours with a Rodneysaur, Illustrated by Moonloon (=maryavatar). Cracktastic goodness with OMG CUTE ILLUSTRATIONS by spaggel!

Touch, by astolat (=Shalott) back in October is really nice for the description of unconscious attraction, then realization, then really nice abrupt DEALING (I'm going crazy with the capital letters today and I'm sorry, I really am.) I like when there is a little coming around to the idea of switching sides, but I also like when it doesn't turn into angst of epic proportions. John/Rodney.

This I really refuse to apologize for too much for liking this. Now, it was cute, and were I in another mood I probably would have skipped anything so cute, but today? Today I totally want Rodney to show me how to take apart a jumper and build a generator and make a bigger, better bomb. Warning: kid!John & unabashed parental instincts on the part of the entire Atlantis expedition. Think mini!John, only he's about 8. Fifth in a series, but I read the last part first and then a few other bits and out of order because... I'm just in a mood. Teacher's Pet by seperis.

Moka by saffronhouse is intricate and flashbacked and dark and lights and forgiving and not and it is elegant creepy hurt and believably slow yet sincere comfort. John/Rodney with a wonderful Radek.

icarusancalion has a grand SG-1/SGA crossover about the effects of the constitution Weir wrote. Scroll into the comments for more discussion of Elizabeth's work on Earth, if nothing else just for a good reason to respect her. Colony Atlantis. Then go read the Rodney snippet, afterward, for a laugh (I think it might actually be a prequel kind of snippet).

thegrrrl2002 has made a commentary for A Little Bit Crazy, which is also hawt SGA John/Rodney first time and taking place on Earth where they no longer fit, interestingly. thegrrl's commentary tells you where things could have gone, which was just so cool to hear. It did end where it was meant to, though I'd love to see fics of those other ideas too.

Well, really, thegrrrl2002 writes very, very hot John/Rodney slash, this should not be news, but here's a specific rec: This one is a first time, with interesting twists about who knew they were gay and who didn't, and how that doesn't actually match up with how okay each of them are with it. Simple fic, with the hawt sexy, and the competant people still able to do their jobs, and well executed. And, I liked the angst in a big way. We All Arrive By Different Streets. Atlantis, John/Rodney, adult.

kellifer_ficwrites Aftermath, which may be my favorite 'broaching of subject' preslash conversations for John and Rodney.

It is so, so sweet, very funny, a situation that I really bought and the characterizations are wonderful. So much so that you will race to the sequel and be sad that the third isn't done yet. raqs has written sequel to Dark Moon, High Tide at pegasus_b called Under a Broken Moon. Pegasus B is an AU where Daniel is not tapped for the Stargate Program until his boss, Elizabeth Wier takes him to Atlantis as part of that expedition. Jack goes as the military leader as well, but the OTP with Daniel does not apply in this 'verse (necessarily). I read Under a Broken Moon without reading the original story and still got drawn in. It's wonderful, it's recommended, and you just TRY to not root for the unusual pairings. I dare you.
