Especially for Mabi...
Oct. 19th, 2005 12:54 pmI have gathered all the Mitchell pairing fics I have into one easy to digest posting!
[Reccer's note: I'm ridiculously behind updating these lists. If you're up for a little sleuthing, you'll find new recs under this tag and all tossed together.]
Gen recs:
Cameron being adorable whilst getting kicked out of various places: My Pappy Was A Pistol, I'm a Son Of A Gun, gen, R rating, from
minervacat. Seriously, I love when Cam's grandmother is involved. Seriously very funny and wonderful.
Renae (=
sly_bone) wrote a really interesting gen piece about the team, and the dynamics and the perception vs. reality. Great Cameron voice, and Vala is also endearing. History in the Making, PG-13.
thassalia's really amazing Cameron voice and character: Blue Jeans and Beer, and Zebulan Pike was Here (for me yay!). S10 goodness, all about the Cameron. All about Cameron going back to his old stomping grounds and faith and humilty and *handflaps* Gen, fantabulous.
Tag for Ethon by
cofax7 makes me yearn for this to happen on the show. Mitchell and Jack, after mistakes were made.
The lovely
thassalia once again takes Mitchell into the realm of character and discovery and bafflement, and it's fantastic. Kraftwork.
Danver's SG-1 drabble/ficlet things that is marvelous and includes massive flirting everywhere (Snapshot, or The One Where They're All Probably Doing Each Other).
Mitchell/Jackson Fanfic Recommendations:
Cascade by
kylielee1000. Cameron/Daniel, with Daniel being all linguisty, and that's always a good thing. It has a great characterization of Daniel, and Cam as the outsider to the three with history is very well done, as is the slow build of insight and realization. Also props for using repetition to brilliant effect. I recommend this one, even if you aren't a Cam/Daniel fan at this point. In fact, this would be the fic I recommend you start with.
sgslashygirl posted some wordplay/foreplay Camiel Cameron/Daniel. The characters are well done: The Point.
thassalia wrote a fantastic Cameron/Daniel GEN Trying to figure each other out, piece, which is oddly not being addressed much at all in fanfic. And, let's face it, Daniel is not really making a good impression, what with being all disappointed and irritated all the time and they have that 'Jackson, my friends call me Cameron' thing going on... and this is great: Who Stole My Cheese and Put It Underwater for the Fish?
from
beckymonster in association with Pepe's Place List challenges: Merry Gentlemen, which ought to do you for Cam/Daniel as well as Jack voyeurism. Oh, and SUCH potential for a sequel. Mmmmmmm.
Also Mitchell/Sam (and reference to the wondertwins too). Really just Cam being the new little black dress of the fandom. Last Watch by
dirty_diana. This is jaunty. My favorite line is "the is just the kind of crazy he came for." Whee!
Huh. You know this worked for me? I could believe this.
janedavitt, of course, is wildly talented, so if you're going to give them a shot, read Daniel/Mitchell from her. One on One. Missing scene/tag to Prototype (9.9), because you know, you just *know* that Daniel isn't going to just holster the gun and be fine with killing someone. Even a really *evil* someone.
Ships At Sea by
kernezelda. Oooooh, the ANGST! Because Jack is gone and Daniel is just sooooo.... angsty. And he forgot that he gave his apartment to Mitchell. *snicker*
Night Maneuvers by
ankhsign. To be fair, we all knew Vala would drive Daniel to do something crazy eventually. *G*
Mitchell/Teal'c Fanfic Recommendations:
lyrstzha wrote a Cam/Teal'c set of Five Things! Well, Cam, with the occasional side of Teal'c (R rated), but any rarer pairing goodness is to be applauded (especially when I thought I knew all the Cam/Teal'c writers and could count them on four fingers, you know?) Rare pairings rah rah rah!
rydra_wong beat out many, MANY slash entries to win the coveted title of 'I Killed Fandom' with her story Leonine! And I most heartily agree that this story is contributing to general Global Warming. 'Grats, Beauty. Most notably for winning with a less recognized (though no less deserving) pairing. Cameron/Teal'c, and seriously HAWT.
rydra_wong has taken the plunge and posted a fic. And she did a great job with his voice, also Teal'c's conflicting loyalties and feelings about SG-1 and the SGC and the free Jaffa... Anyway, Teal'c and the newest member of SG-1, who doesn't know enough to leave him alone. Mountains Are Not Mountains.
A hysterical SG-1 fairy tale: The Tale of Sleeping Brawny and the Galactic Adventurer Who Woke Him Up by
ana_grrl.
sage_theory wrote (for me!) a pre-slash snippet Blip. Getting Teal'c's attention. Mmmm.
ana_grrl, formerly of mostly Firefly slash work, takes us to Cameron/Teal'c pre-slash. It's just a short little ficlet, but seriously, there is so much going ON between those guys. She nailed Cameron, too, though unfortunately, not literally. Just a Guy, Saying Hi.
Request Fic #4 by
kernezelda. Cameron & Teal'c friendshippy or pre-ship missing scene from Avalon, I think. She's got Cameron's voice *down*.
Weakness Defined by
deani_bean at
mitchells_sg1. Landry's perspective, interestingly, on team dynamics. Short and v. interesting.
New Relationships by
titti. And it's companion Hello, Goodbye at
gate_unleashed. File under 'new OTP: romance'
Cam/Teal'c Fic by
kernezelda,
rubberneck,
rainer76,
thessalia and
rydra_wong. Aliens made them do it, of course.
Teal'c/Michell ficlet by
rainer76. Teal'c's take on the new leader of SG-1, very cool character interaction, and all about a basketball game (but personally, I think it's a metaphor, nah mean?). PG rated, friendshippy so far.
and (also
ranier76) a WIP: Post Babylon
General Mitchell Slash recs:
Mitchell backstory with Sheppard in Afganistan; with Mitchell this fine, upstanding 'so what's wrong with you? I can't find it.' young officer, and Sheppard is slouchy and insubordinant and poised to be a great leader and poised to destroy his career. It's like oil and water, and their Afganistan missions are fire.
frostfire_17, props to you. Voices = perfect (especially for Cameron, who I think is difficult to get a handle on, this early), interaction = intense, payoff = huge. This is fantastic: Here Is No Water.
Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell Is The Biggest Fanboy In The UNIVERSE and Dogtags, Grannies and Alien Priest(esses) by
frostfire_17 whom I will definitely be monitoring for more satisfying smut like this. It's Cameron and his right hand, but... you know, it does the job. It really does.
The not work-safe Mitchell/Sheppard Retrograde fic (Expatriate) from
ltlj. John so broken is an amazing starting place, and Cam has always been intuitively cued into keeping him feeling safe even while totally invading his personal space (at least, in LTLJ's 'verse), so here they take it a bit farther in the name of protecting each other and it's amazing that they maintain their easy attitudes all while being accidently really turned on. I kinda love those two together. NC-17, John/Cam, Retrograde 'verse, might stand alone.
The exceptions to the slash rule: Cam/Vala recs:
thassalia's very NC-17 Cam/Vala, more or less continuing from her other C/V stories, but I'd bet you could read it on it's own also. I can't believe she's sold me on them quite so solidly, but it works like a very workable thing. GUH. Control, post Counterstrike. NC-17.
Cameron/Vala, of a sort (PG rated) from
daisycm83: Not Scene, in which Teal'c is also very much awesome.
thassalia's Cam and Vala tag for Uninvited. PWP, NC-17. Oh yeah.
More Thea: Cameron and Vala (and Teal'c as wingman, very nice!) Tag for the Insiders, with daaaaaancing and Vala being seductive, but it stops at dancing (on the page, at least). PG-13.
The Rules of the Game by
sloanesomething. This is a rather brilliant character study on Cameron as Outsider and Vala needing more than she admits. Daniel, Teal'c and the OC Green are also very interesting and well-drawn. This is a beauty. Spoilers through Beachhead. R rating.
And, a funny little snippet that might, creatively be called pre-OT3. *ponders* Cam/Vala Snippet. Also
sloanesomething, but very different tone. More 'hey it's been a long time and you're here and I'm here...' than 'OMG we have a connection,' and they both have merits, says I. General S9. R rating.
Mitchell/Sam:
Nice complexity behind Cameron/Sam: Repeat If Necessary by
kellifer_k.
Actually, heck, threesomes:
Atlantis crossover: Out of Space, in
3_ships Secret Santa, which is Cameron, Daniel and John Sheppard in various ways. Does make you want to pet Cameron a bit and say something soothing like 'loosen up, man!'. NC-17.
And, SG-1, with a little body swapping thrown in for good measure. Guinevere Comma Not. which is also
3_ships and features Vala, Daniel and Cameron.

Mitchell/Jackson is soooooo gorram hawt.

I'm worried that I might have seen another good fic or two that I didn't rec very loudly... might have to go search a bit.
But I do agree, Mitchell/Daniel is a force. They are sooooo pretty.

Date: 2005-11-21 10:22 pm (UTC)Um, anyway. I agree that the characterization in the Cam/Vala fics is interesting, and different for each fic. I liked what the second had to say about Cam, though, and I like learning about him since we know so little canon. I recc'd. I made a very special just-for-het rec post. *is smug*
