(no subject)

Today I fixed the cooling system for our x-ray generator. It was a basic reboot, after the building decided to shut down the cold water supply for some reason. The panels on the side of the cube were a bitch to remove, though.

User friendly my *ass*. I broke four fingernails! Above the quick and painless, but it's the principle of the thing! Why would you design a machine without taking into account whether it will mess up a girl's manicure?

Guess I should've clipped my nails this morning after all.

*sulks*

This post is made of pure, gleaming, adamantium-reinforced WIN.

That is all.

Wow, you are seriously amazing. I might have actually run the other way from such a task. Possibly due to my technology curse. ;)

Go you despite the nails.

*g*

It's part of my job, actually. And I'm moderately mechanically inclined, so it's interesting to me (as much as my Dad's cars or my stereo system is--which is to say 'borderline interesting until there's some usefulness to be gained')

And my nails grow fast, that's how they get so out of control long. BUT STILL, you know?

I think my currently-behaving advisor is beginning to realize how many machines only work because I'm here. *g* It's going to bite him on the aaaaaaaaaasssssssssssss.

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I do know. It's an annoyance to have a nail snap. Also ouchy.

As for the advisor....well, this is where living well as the best revenge comes in. Just imagine him after you've left. ;)

Rock on.

Xray machines in general tend to bite me. Always bloody after even just preventive maintenance.

I love that machine, for serious. It is *dead sexy*. I do not love the panels on the cooling compressor system, though.

Maybe it's a requisite sacrifice to the x-ray gods or something.

Suck! Poor engineering.

Usually I just suck it up and ignore it, but right now I'm trying really hard not to break any nails. :-)

I know, right?

You're going to be so gorgeous.

Awwww nails! ::hugs you::

Although, the nails were probably doomed anyway, with moving soon and all. Give them another shot once you're in NY. :)

I always break nails when I'm fixing one of our instruments, and yes, I sulk too.

I figure it's the Working!Machine!God demanding a sacrifice. *g*

That... would explain a lot, actually. The sacrificial nails.

And really, they'll grow back. So fast that I'll once again find myself with claws and no recollection of creating them on purpose.
