[livejournal.com profile] moonshayde drew a pretty picture of Jack and Daniel in their natural environment: Appreciation.

Now is the time on Sprockets when we must love other pimps (it is a travesty that I have no pimp icon. No pimp hat, no pimp icon. *sigh*): [livejournal.com profile] oceana has updated her recs journal and I'm so, so excited to find new fic there! With her recommendation? It's a sure thing... Also, [livejournal.com profile] ship_recs ought to be on your flist if you are a'tall into John/Rodney, SGA in general or Sam/Jack SG-1(that's an OR, by the way. Ficrecs are well and clearly labeled); an excellent compliment to yours truly, actually, since I multitask badly and can only really focus on my own thing, and she'll cover all the rest of the SG 'verse 'ships. Dusty also has a recs journal ([livejournal.com profile] dustyrydersrecs), multi-fandom (like [livejournal.com profile] oceanas_recs. And this is so impressive to me.) [livejournal.com profile] paian also recs like a mad thing in her journals, between posting gorgeous works of fanfiction, and [livejournal.com profile] destina, [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion, [livejournal.com profile] eliade, [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn and others have impressive lists of recs on webpages (Destina's Stargate Recs, Eliade's SG-1 recs and a memory list on LJ here, Icarus' Stargate Recs, Danver's Stargate SG-1 Recs). Niiiiiice. So now you know some of my sources for the best crack. I'm sure I'll be editing this later to include more wonderful pimps whose names are escaping me at the moment.

[ETA: (told you) [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat has BRILLIANT thematic rec pages: Earth-shattering Kaboom: Stargate Apocafic Recs and Three's Company: A list of Stargate SG-1 Jack/Sam/Daniel, OT3 and OT4 fan fiction.]

Bookmarks:

You Can't Judge a Man by the Cut of His Cloth by Tallulah Rasa. On oceana's rec. eta: BWAHAHAHAHA! And you thought SGA was a cracktastic fandom! This is right up there with the Rodneysaur in my world. *sniggers*

The First Prayers of Man by [livejournal.com profile] destina for Salieri. So excited about this. So so excited. Rrrrrrrrroooooooooommmmmmeeeeeee!!!!!!!! eta: and it's gorgeous. When Vorenus thinks he's lost all his moorings; all his principles, all his faith; Pullo helps him see the difference between pain and love, and steers by following to navigate them both. Poor Vorenus, falling ever short of his own lofty ideals, and lovely Pullo, forever exceeding them. This is one of my favorite friendship arcs ever, and taking it into a slash relationship in fic is a very easy step.

72000, by claira on oceana's rec. Good Sam, no 'ship? I'm so there. eta: Yeah, this was great. This was so great I will venture into one of my least often read pairings to read the rest of her webpage. Sam is marvelously strong in this, even if, like many after trauma, she has no idea how to direct it. I love the people she actually lets in and says what she means to, I love the flashbacks to Jolinar; her judgements, her kindnesses and under it all, Sam's panic and fury. This is beautiful broken Sam. This is weakness without being weak. There should have been more fallout from that trauma anyway. [eta2: if you are a big fan of 72000, fan of Claira, but not so much with the Sam/Jack 'ship, may I direct you to salttequilalime which is Sam backstory, and aching. Synonymous is Jack and Sam, a little abyss aftermath and so in character.]

And, just to show I can be shallow like any other p0rn reader, the one I couldn't just bookmark and read later: Still, by [livejournal.com profile] mmmchelle and [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002. John/Rodney porny goodness with the exploration of a new kink that is psychologically believable and wonderful. Yum.

Claira's email is clairad@gmail.com, if you want to drop her a note.

Thanks for this *points at email* a lot, as I'll use it to send gushing feedback I might otherwise neglect if I'm reading from a webpage I have to, you know, figure out how to tell an author I loved their stuff. (Alas. Am a slacker sometimes.) *g* Thanks.

*has just remembered your recs pages*

*face/palm*

Heh. Heck, I forget my own name some days.

*snorts* Funny you mention that, as I misspelled someone's handle in this post too.

Fannish thanks have been written and sent. Thanks for the contact address. I wish I liked shippy stories so I could read the rest of her stuff, but they just aren't me.

Well, she did claim that this one had hints of Jack/Sam, but I read it because oceana said she honestly couldn't see it, maybe Sam/Daniel if anything. Anyway, I may read through some more because I've recently decided that it's really more about the writer; I've seen 'ship that I could believe (if *you* can believe that) because it was appropriately f*cked up and/or otherwise in touch with characters. I promise if it gets anywhere near hard to ignore it will be labeled; I know how sensitive my slasher peeps are.

Actually my squicks about Sam/Jack have more to do with the fact that he's her boss, and that it has made Sam into a weak character. I like het sex (well done) as much as I love slash. (Major romance novel reader/wannabe writer here!) One of my other fandoms had one of the characters start a ship with his boss as canon in the last season and it just about made me drop the fandom it felt so WRONG. Could be from my early years of dealing with prejudice and sexual harrassment in the workplace. (I once splashed a pan of developing acid on my boss's pants when he made a grab for me in a darkroom! :oP)

Might also come from the writers on the show who have done so little to develop J/S and done so much to encourage J/D. I don't like it when people who have been going along quite normally in a show all of a sudden change their character and fall so madly in love with another character who the episode before they could have cared less about. It's bad writing and I just don't buy it. S/D I can buy because they have similar interests and IQ levels.

I know...preaching to the choir here. :o) I know you'll pimp like crazy if there's anything good there. You're a pal. *smooches!*

LOL. I saw two: one was Sam backstory and one was Jack and Sam, but not 'shippy. Barely friendshippy, in fact, as it was post-Abyss and Jack was all PTSD and Sam was all guilty. Interesting. Linked above in the post.

No problem. I know she'll be thrilled to get the feedback.
