Now is the time on Sprockets when we must love other pimps (it is a travesty that I have no pimp icon. No pimp hat, no pimp icon. *sigh*): oceana has updated her recs journal and I'm so, so excited to find new fic there! With her recommendation? It's a sure thing... Also, ship_recs ought to be on your flist if you are a'tall into John/Rodney, SGA in general or Sam/Jack SG-1(that's an OR, by the way. Ficrecs are well and clearly labeled); an excellent compliment to yours truly, actually, since I multitask badly and can only really focus on my own thing, and she'll cover all the rest of the SG 'verse 'ships. Dusty also has a recs journal (dustyrydersrecs), multi-fandom (like oceanas_recs. And this is so impressive to me.) paian also recs like a mad thing in her journals, between posting gorgeous works of fanfiction, and destina, icarusancalion, eliade, sdraevn and others have impressive lists of recs on webpages (Destina's Stargate Recs, Eliade's SG-1 recs and a memory list on LJ here, Icarus' Stargate Recs, Danver's Stargate SG-1 Recs). Niiiiiice. So now you know some of my sources for the best crack. I'm sure I'll be editing this later to include more wonderful pimps whose names are escaping me at the moment.

The First Prayers of Man by destina for Salieri. So excited about this. So so excited. Rrrrrrrrroooooooooommmmmmeeeeeee!!!!!!!! eta: and it's gorgeous. When Vorenus thinks he's lost all his moorings; all his principles, all his faith; Pullo helps him see the difference between pain and love, and steers by following to navigate them both. Poor Vorenus, falling ever short of his own lofty ideals, and lovely Pullo, forever exceeding them. This is one of my favorite friendship arcs ever, and taking it into a slash relationship in fic is a very easy step.

72000, by claira on oceana's rec. Good Sam, no 'ship? I'm so there. eta: Yeah, this was great. This was so great I will venture into one of my least often read pairings to read the rest of her webpage. Sam is marvelously strong in this, even if, like many after trauma, she has no idea how to direct it. I love the people she actually lets in and says what she means to, I love the flashbacks to Jolinar; her judgements, her kindnesses and under it all, Sam's panic and fury. This is beautiful broken Sam. This is weakness without being weak. There should have been more fallout from that trauma anyway. [eta2: if you are a big fan of 72000, fan of Claira, but not so much with the Sam/Jack 'ship, may I direct you to salttequilalime which is Sam backstory, and aching. Synonymous is Jack and Sam, a little abyss aftermath and so in character.]

And, just to show I can be shallow like any other p0rn reader, the one I couldn't just bookmark and read later: Still, by mmmchelle and thegrrrl2002. John/Rodney porny goodness with the exploration of a new kink that is psychologically believable and wonderful. Yum.

Reading a lot is a mixed blessing. Sometimes I'm not putting together a post of links at that moment and I have to rely on my memory of reading it and the history in my browser. Sometimes the plot is great but for some reason the reading just didn't speak to me, sometimes the right amount of schmoop hits me at the right moment... hard to explain. I know there are a million fics out there that I have genuinely enjoyed but haven't gone the extra distance to post a link... And this is exactly why I've never started a weekly newsletter or been a mod on a community. I may rec a lot, but I make noooo promises about objectivity. *g*

LOL Well one can argue that there is no such thing as objectivity anyway...

And this is why you won't see me reccing very often on my LJ. I'd love to since I thinking pimping people's fic is a wonderful thing to do but...I am (A) too much of a bitch when it comes to quality (B) see the above (C) I don't read as much anymore because of school and because the badfic scared me. Plus, I'm mainly a gen person who really only like J/D slash on the side and who would love more Sam/Daniel if it didn't make me cry (some of it is so bad...)

So, fic recc lists at least give me some place to start if I am feeling less hermit like in the world of the fandom. So yay for recc lists.

I can only do it if it's not an obligation. If I stop reading so much, you'll not see so many recs, but right now it's a big escape and relaxation thing for me, and I read quickly, sooo....

It's hard for people to get to angry with you if you just do your thing and refuse to apologize for what you like and what you don't. Really, I try to leave comments or feedback about anything I read that gives me joy of any level. It's only if something touches me and I think might mean something to others too that I'll rec.
