Well, I think there's a slim chance that I might have been converted into a dyed in the wool Daniel fan were it not for how amazingly, heinously bad the characterization was in 90% of the Daniel fics I wandered into when I first found the fandom. (Well, that and the fact that I'm kind of an ornery SOB when it comes to fandom. I've started to wonder if I don't subconsciously gravitate to under-represented characters specifically because they're under-represented...)
In any case, I'm entirely too picky for my own good. As it is, my love for Teal'c just might have been saved by the fact that there are so very few fics that give him much of a role, and the majority of those I've found actually seem to do him justice or at the very least are written by people who have half a clue and sincerely love and/or respect the character. If Daniel were my one true love I might, sadly enough, have run from the fandom screaming by now. Why do people do such things to the poor soul? *hugs him*
