Glad to hear you all are doing okay because you are right -- one the fires down here started we didn't hear anything about up north, even though the maps indicated it was still going. The wind has dropped, which is what is most useful. Very good thoughts for the kitty -- I always feel for pets who have no idea what's going on but do know that something is not right in situations like this and do tend to freak out, poor things.

And not to alarm you, but "fully contained" does not mean out. All it means is that a break of one sort or another has been set around the full perimeter of the fire and that it appears to be holding. But anything over 50% contained usually means you can take a breath. Metaphorically, that is because yeesh is it smoky and ashy out there.
